The Online Reference Center provided an extensive article about Russian government, people, way of life, climate, the arts, history, and the economy. There were a tremendous number of sub-categories available. Learners can research as broadly or as specifically as they please.
I am curious about the "freshness" of this information. The citation information lists today's date, but it is not possible to find out when the entry was last updated. Or am I missing something?
I did discover a Research Skills link at the end of the Related Information page. That, as well as the Writing Skills and Speaking Skills articles could also be helpful to learners.
Hi, Gentle Reader! World Book editors do keep information quite up to date. When major events occur, they are added. (My test example is Michael Jackson's death. They had his death date added within 2 days.) Otherwise, they update articles on a regular rotation basis. I will inquire to try to provide you with a more definite answer. I hope you also noticed that country articles include audio of the national anthem and folksongs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out the audio capabilities for national anthems. I had missed that the first time around. Listened to Ireland's today. What a variety of information on this site.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteRegarding frequency of updates, a check with the vendor resulted in: "We have a monthly upload but also perform special uploads to ensure our article content reflects recent developments in world events." Jane test example (Michael Jackson's death) is a good example. Hope that helps!
